Yesterday, I had a printable introducing the 5 forms of prayer (according to the Baltimore Catechism): praise, adoration, thanksgiving, intercession and petition. Today put that knowledge to use in these worksheets.

In this printable, your kids will read and reflect on the prayers and then classify them into each of the 5 forms of prayer using colors. First read through the common prayers and then think about each phrase or each word. Are they words of praise? thanksgiving? Pick 5 different highlighters or color pencils and fill in your key. (Make a mark next to each form with one of your colors). Then use that color to identify the different forms within our everyday prayers.
Then after the highlighting pages are handwriting pages for each of the prayers. It’s easy to get used to saying the same words over and over, and forget to think about what you’re saying. Sometimes, kids don’t even really know what they’re saying, because they’ve only repeated what they’ve heard or really what they think they’ve heard and never actually know the words. I know there are several different lists of types or forms of prayers. This list is from one of the lists in the Baltimore Catechism. The important thing is for kids to learn how to pray, no matter what list of prayer forms you use! After you’ve thought and reflected on the prayers in these worksheets, write your own prayer and try to include as many forms of prayer as you can!
