Be Still and Know… Watercolor Print

My beautiful sister in law, is getting married this fall.  She recently had a Bridal Shower, in which we were invited to bring scripture or a prayer in lieu of a blender or toaster type gift, which I loved.  My mother in law created ‘spiritual bouquets’ by pinning the gifted prayers and scripture to little dowels sticking out of the center pieces.

I loved seeing the various prayers and masses offered for my SIL’s marriage! And as someone who is already established and not needing a new pancake griddle, I know these were so much more meaningful to her.

I’ve really gotten into watercolor painting lately, which is partially why I haven’t been blogging as much (the other reason is homeschooling!) (the other other reason is life with three kids in general!).  But I’ve shared my paintings on here before, and thought since I’ve already given my SIL the original, you all can have a digital copy for your own homes!

The scripture I choose is so simple, and yet so hard to live by.  I’ve painted it before, and I thought I should try to think of something else.  But my mind and heart keep coming back to the same scripture “Be still, and know that I am God.”  Psalm 46:10

Maybe it’s because of my stage in life, or just that the world is moving so fast, with new and more expectations placed on us all the time.  Or maybe it’s because I so desire to be still, but find that I can’t.  (There’s always something more to do- laundry, cleaning, school, sports etc!)

But whatever the case, my heart was set on painting Be Still.. again for my SI.  This time with lots of greenery (because I know that’s her style!).  I watercolor painted the greenery, and then added the text in calligraphy, my other recent passion!

Here it is for you all to print and display for yourself. Let it be a reminder that, no matter how much you have on your plate, God is ultimately in control.  Be still (let your mind and hearts be still) and know God has a plan, you are part of it.
