This one is much easier to do with children.  We personally save up all the clothes we outgrow until we have a box-full to donate.  It’s easy to collect clothes from kids since they out grow them so quickly. And getting them involved is as easy as making it their job to put the clothes they outgrow in the designated box, and then bringing them with you to drop it off.

Another way to clothe the naked is to simply include some warm socks and gloves in your blessing bags.  Especially in these winter months I’m sure anyone outside could use some new socks.  And when they come 6 to a pack it’s easy to include them in your blessing bags.

Maybe it doesn’t count as much (not that God is giving out points), but hand-me downs are a way of clothing the naked.  If you have multiple kids, your older ones can take care of their clothes with the intent of passing it on to their younger siblings.  Along the same lines, doing the laundry is another work of mercy your kids can do.  While I’ve been in my first trimester misery, it’s been a huge help enlisting my oldest to wash and dry clothes.  And yes, we would be naked if she hadn’t helped out. Maybe not naked naked, but well, let’s just say I wouldn’t be able to go out of the house if not for her help.

How are you incorporating this work of mercy into your Lenten Sacrifices this year?

Thanks for being here!
