Pentecost Coloring Page

Pentecost is coming up on Sunday!  To help teach or entertain those little ones, I’ve made you a Pentecost coloring page, complete with scripture from Acts 2:1-4.

If you’re wondering, “why the cupcakes?” Pentecost is also known as the ‘birthday’ of the church, since it is when the Holy Spirit came down to the disciples.  They started evangelizing (in all different languages) converting and baptizing 3,000 on just the first day.  It really is the beginning of the new covenant and the birthday of the Holy Catholic Church.

This coloring page is of the 12 disciples gathered together with the Holy Spirit as a dove, and tongues of fire over their heads. Written at the bottom is Acts 2:1-4, “When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

I help with our middle school youth group (we use the Lifeteen Edge programs), and I really had fun this past Sunday teaching about Pentecost.  We opened with a ‘quiz’ where everyone had to listen to Happy Birthday in 30 different languages (without seeing the video) and write down what language they thought each “Happy Birthday” was in.  Needless to say, out of 30 languages the most anyone got correct was 4.  Then we had a great discussion about how the Holy Spirit enabled the disciples to speak in all languages to spread the gospel.

No matter how you teach and celebrate the Pentecost, it is truly a special day not to be forgotten. Don’t forget to check out my Gifts of the Holy Spirit Minibook, if you haven’t already done so.

God bless,
